Then just submit your article to article directories. You will get links from the directories, but other online publishers will come and use your article in their content or newsletter. This gives you even more backlinks, from different places.

You can find blogs on related topics. Stop by the blog and read the posts. If you have something to add to the conversation leave a comment.

When you leave a comment at a blog you can use the name field of the comment form for your keyword. Then fill in the rest of the information and your comment. This will give you an anchor text link back to your site. Make sure you look around and make sure the blog owner allows this. Some don’t and will consider it spamming. Most marketing blogs will allow you to do this, and many blog owners don’t care.

Once you realize just how important backlinks are to your rank in search engines like Google and yahoo you will start wondering about how to get backlinks and more of them! With an estimated 80% of page rank being determined by backlinks it is no wonder this is of prime importance to anyone who needs people to find their website amongst the clutter of the net.

The issue many people ignore in their quest for backlinks is that not all of them are alike. Smart search engines have long ago learned that people will do unscrupulous things on the net to manipulate their methods of determining good websites and have ways of detecting and qualifying good backlinks. So now you know what a quality backlink is how do you get more of them? One way is to write articles and link your site from the article that you post on article sites that litter the net. Another tactic is to post in forums with your site in your signature so every time you post you create a backlink. As always if you site is good, well put together and relevant then you will create backlinks from people simply willing to link you and some smart networking can also help. How to get backlinks quickly though is another matter entirely as it is a slow process.

Provide blog comments on other’s blogs. Give constructive opinions or quality information to generate backlinks to your own sites. Note that some webmasters will deem you as simply trying to get backlinks if you provide unrelated one liners.

Leverage on affordable offline advertising to drive traffic to your online site. Wear your site if you have to, on your Tees. Or print your URL on your car, external of your house, windows of your high rise apartment, as screen savers, give away URL stickers etc.

Submit articles to blog carnivals. Make sure that you submit only the best from your article collection and do not spam them.

Submit your posts to Social networking sites. This is the age of new media, social networking is a free and effective means of communication. You should leverage on this channel especially when your targeted niche are between 15 – 35 years old which forms the largest group of social site users. Do active social bookmarking. Help them help you make more friends and visitors to your sites by creating bookmarking icons on your blog.

Use offline meet ups to create exposure for yourself and your site. Around the globe and around the year, there are never-ending seminars be it internet or your related niche. Attend them and generate exposure. You may even be able to forge online and offline joint ventures via collaborations.

While some are more powerful than others, always bear in mind that every little tactic you deploy will eventually yield you some traffic, albeit not instantaneously. The key is patience.
